There was once a ball of sock yarn that wanted to become a shawl.
It knew that most of the skeins in the stash were destined to be knitted and it felt special when it realised that its future was in crochet.
It went on holiday and enjoyed seeing the sea, carefully keeping its distance from the salt water.
Over the weeks, it quietly grew – carefully and neatly, occasionally wondering if crochet were the right choice after all. The rows were long and needed a lot of yarn.
One day, realisation dawned. ‘I want to become something else’, it thought.
The ball of sock yarn decided it had had enough of being crocheted. It pointed out that it would soon be exhausted if it continued in this crocheted design, lovely though it was, and suggested that a different pattern might be a good idea.
Yes, you have to listen to your yarn.
It knows best.
Have you listened to your yarn lately? What has it told you? I’d love to hear about it!
