Who needs an excuse to stop for a tea break on holiday? Not me!
This place was a real find. I wish I lived nearer to it, as I know I would be a regular visitor.
As well as being home to thousands of second-hand books for sale, Barter Books in Alnick, Northumberland, has a well-stocked cafe, with several comfortable and stylish seating areas, all fabulously kitted out in line with the building’s history as a Victorian railway station.
The bookshop’s website includes a short Vimeo film, which you might like to see … Just clickΒ here!
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you make time to visit in person, to browse the extensive stock of books and to sit and absorb the atmosphere over a cup of tea and cake. And don’t forget your knitting!
Do you have a favourite cafe where you like to knit? I’d love to hear about it!

Tea breaks are always welcome! And being a newbie knitter, I haven’t found a place away from home to just sit and stitch….
